Moving right into the next book on the shelf: Ursula K. Le Guin’s The Left Hand of Darkness. Published in 1969, it won both the Nebula and Hugo. It’s the fourth book in the sequence of Hainish Universe books, and I am uncertain as to if there is much continuity in the series. The next book in the series – and subsequently the next book up – The Dispossessed also won both awards. I’ve always been interested in reading these books not only because they have won many awards and are always on the best sci-fi lists, but also because they were written by a woman. Even now sci-fi is perceived as a bit of a male’s genre, so always excited to see women representing. Very excited to get started once I finish up Wild (a feminist theme seems to be running here), updates to come.
